Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Edgar started in the beading world in 2010, however, it is in 2002 when he began experimenting with different jewelry and accessory techniques. Edgar Lopez said: “Since I can remember I was always interested in art, design, and building all sorts of things with my hands. These are skills inherited from my paternal grandmother, who was always a very creative person. Today I bring all these qualities to the pieces I create and love.”

After studying architecture, Edgar started looking for activities that he could do as a hobby until he realized that he liked jewelry. He began studying jewelry design and worked in the fashion world for different designers. He has participated in several contests as a contestant and as a jury. His creations have been published in multiple magazines and books in the United States, Latin America, and Europe.

“Creating is my passion, as an architect and jewelry designer, I learned to mix the best of both worlds, mixing shapes and textures that I can see in nature or buildings, and as the Caribbean, I like color and being risky with their combinations.”

In 2019 he moved to NY and since then has continued developing his work as a designer and as a teacher, “teaching others how to make my designs is one of the things that fills me with satisfaction”.

He is currently developing new projects that combine several of the things he likes the most: fashion, design, beads, and art.
